Course Overview
FAQs
- Is GCSE PE just like Biology?
- A large amount of the course is human biology and how it applies to physical activity and sport. The body systems studied in GCSE PE will certainly link to those taught in Biology
- Do I need to be good at sport to study GCSE PE?
- 30% of the course is assessed through performance in 3 practical sports
- It is recommended that you are playing in DCSG A/B teams and competing outside of school for clubs or teams
- Video evidence is required for any sport that is not available in school
- How is GCSE PE assessed?
- An overall 9-1 grade is awarded for Pearson Edexcel GCSE PE. The grade is a combination of written exams and non examined assessments.
- Can I be assessed in Touch Rugby?
- Unfortunately, Touch Rugby is not on the Edexcel specification
- What do the exams look like?
- The 2 written papers have a combination of multiple-choice, short answer and 1 x 9 marker questions
- The practical element is continually assessed throughout the course and moderated by an external visit from the exam board. A mock and official practical exam will be hosted in school exam periods. Sports completed outside of school will need to have video evidence provided (eg Skiing)
