Facts:

The significance of the German language in a European and global context is unquestionable. According to a recent survey conducted by the CBI, German ranks first among the desirable languages for their employees to speak.

Apart from the essential business aspect of knowing the German language, Germany is one of the major contributors to European art, culture and music.

This course is designed to enable the learner to communicate effectively in this important language and to develop his/her awareness of the Germanic culture.

Paper 1 Listening – approximately 30 minutes - 40 Marks Externally Assessed

Candidates listen to a number of recordings and answer questions testing comprehension.

Paper 2 Reading and Writing – 1 hour 45 minutes - 80 Marks Externally Assessed

Candidates read a number of texts and answer questions testing comprehension and respond in the target language to two tasks in writing.

50%

Paper 3 Speaking - approximately 8 - 10 minutes - 40 Marks Externally Assessed

Candidates complete a presentation and discussion based on a photograph and a general conversation.
