Senior School Book Week 2024

The Senior School embraced the wonderful world of literature and embarked on a fun journey of competitions, challenges and lucky dip treats this week! From an inspiring author visit by Jonathan Meres, captivating Year 7 and 8 audiences, to the enthralling serialization of 'The Copy' by Paul Jennings, the week was packed with literary delights. Students and staff alike luxuriated in the DEAR sessions and appreciated the persuasive speaking skills of our keen debaters. Teachers shared their favourite reads, modelling their love of reading and adding to our ever-growing list of must-reads. Kathryn Hemmings’ talk to parents about how to help their children find their next great read reinforced everything we do here in the library and provided a few new ideas to add to our repertoire! The school buzzed with excitement on dress-up day, where characters came to life and added an extra layer of fun to the festivities. Book Week truly manifested the magic of stories and celebrated our passion for reading in the Senior School community.

The ability to thrive in life is profoundly shaped by our reading habits, especially those formed during our formative years. For our students thriving in the rapidly evolving future hinges on the depth of understanding and critical thinking that comes from regular reading. Books not only enrich our knowledge but also cultivate empathy and reasoning skills, which are crucial for success in any field. Our upcoming book week is a testament to our dedication to fostering a thriving mindset in our students through reading. During this week students will be immersed them in a world where books are celebrated as the foundation for a thriving life. Activities such as the book fair, interactions with author Jonathan Meres, and various reading-focused events are designed to reinforce the importance of reading. The week culminates in the Grand Book Week Finale, emphasizing our commitment to nurturing a love for reading, essential for our students to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
