Book Week 2017 

Book Week is going to be such an exciting week in the Senior School. There are author visits, a 2 day book fair, class and house competitions and activities running across all three schools. Don't forget to come dressed up as a book character on Friday 3 March! Who will you come as? Find some ideas here on Pinterest!

On this day you will be asked to donate money to our sister school in Cambodia. So while you are having fun you will also be helping a very worthy cause.

Make sure you have a book with you on Monday 27 February - we are going to kick off our Book Week celebrations by Dropping Everything and Reading (DEAR) three times that day - when you least expect it! So don't get caught out without a book to read!

Book Fair - Wednesday 1 & Thursday 2 March - Senior School Library

A special book fair for senior school students during Book Week, to be run by Closetful of Books, will be held in the Senior School Library from Wednesday 1 - Thursday March 2nd inclusive. We look forward to seeing you and your children here during that time. It would be a great time to visit the library if you haven't already done so and see what a fabulous place it is. 

A larger Book Fair for the younger students will also be held in the DUCKS Multi Purpose Room from Tuesday 28th-Thursday March 3rd. It will be open for parents to browse and buy books from 8-9am and 3.25-4.30pm on each of the days.

There'll be more than 500 titles at the fair with lots of picture books, non-fiction titles, books in Mandarin and graphic novels! Please take a look at the catalogue below for a sample of what's on offer:

Book Week Schedule

Take a look at our exciting schedule and the PowerPoint presentation the students will use during their Tutor Groups in the morning to keep track of everything that is going on this week . It will keep us very busy but is sure to enrich our understanding of the importance of books and reading as well as our love for them.

World Book Day Video for Teens - in this video well known authors talk about why they feel reading is important and how books changed their lives. 

Book Week Visiting Authors:

During Book Week and the following week we will have a number of authors visiting our school to talk to the students. Following is information about these authors and how you can pre-order their books so that you can get them signed on the day of the visit.

Lesley-Anne & Monica Lim 

Singapore based authors of the Red Dot Award Book Secrets of Singapore and the Danger Dan series will be presenting to our years 5,6,7 & 8 on Tuesday 28 March. Click here for more information about these two fabulous author.

Trenton Lee Stewart - will be presenting to years 5,6,& 7 on Tuesday 7th March 

The author of the award-winning, New York Times-bestselling The Mysterious Benedict Society series as well as the critically acclaimed novel The Secret Keepers. Deb Fitzpatrick - will be presenting to years 7 & 8 on Wednesday 8 March.

Deb Fitzpatrick lives and works in Fremantle, Western Australia. She has a Master of Arts (Creative Writing) and is the author of five novels. Her latest is At My Door, for younger readers. The Break (2014) is for adult readers. Her YA novels – 90 Packets of Instant Noodles (2010) and Have You Seen Ally Queen? (2011) – were named Notable Books by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA). The Amazing Spencer Gray (2013), a novel for younger readers, will be published in the US in late 2016. Marina Budhos - will be presenting to years 9 & 10 on Wednesday 8 March 

Marina Budhos is an author of award-winning fiction and non-fiction. Her newest novel, Watched, takes on surveillance in our post 9/11 world. Watched is a companion book to Ask Me No Questions, which has received numerous honours and is taught in many schools. She also wrote Sugar Changed the World: A Story of Magic, Spice, Slavery, Freedom & Science with her husband Marc Aronson, which was a 2010 Los Angeles Times Book Award Finalist.
