The IB Diploma at DCSG (1)
The IB Diploma is different from almost every other Senior School / High School programme. It is not a series of subject examinations but a programme in which each element is considered an important part of the whole to ensure students receive a holistic, broad skills based international education.
This page outlines its main elements in brief and links to further explanation and support.
Subject Groupings and the Core
The curriculum contains six subject groups together with a core made up of three components – Creativity, Action, Service (CAS), Theory of Knowledge (ToK) and the Extended Essay (EE).
Students study six subjects, one from each of the six groups:
- Studies in Language and Literature
- Language Acquisition
- Individuals and Societies
- Sciences
- Mathematics
- The Arts / or an Elective
IB Learner Profile Takeover
A character-based education has been within the tradition of the College for almost four centuries. Our Diploma students will not only fulfill the characteristics of the IBDP but will take over the IB Learner Profile to observe and live the Dulwich College (Singapore) character traits which we believe set our students apart both in the sporting realm and as ambassadors of the College. In the last two years our cohorts have added the following four character traits in Independent, Organised, Creative and Resilient.

Approaches to Learning
Essential in today's world are the skills necessary to succeed. The IB Diploma Programme at Dulwich College (Singapore) embraces these explicitly through its Approaches to Learning (ATL) programme in which each IB Diploma Programme unit in every subject has an explicit ATL skill taught. The idea is that each skill will add to a toolkit for each student in five main areas that they can utilise in any subject, in any area and on into university and beyond. Please see more information on the ATL page.
Students will see in ManageBAC, for each unit ATL skill and teaching.
